A 2012 Transformational Presidency

Pardon the use of the term from the lug-nut left. Our country is in desperate need for the election of a transformational President in 2012.

The Presidential election in the forthcoming year will go down in history as a classic battle between the entrepreneurial class plus working men and women versus those who seek to advance dependency on government for their livelihood. It will come down to the Republican nominee against President Obama.

Obama has lorded over the incremental demise of the economic strength of this nation. This must change beginning in 2013.

A newly elected President will need to make bold decisions to turn the ship of state around, away from the circling storm. Among those items that require immediate attention are:

 Our national debt—the largest elephant in the room.

 Significant cuts in the federal budget, not spending reductions, but get out the cleaver type of CUTS.

 Tax reduction.

 Promoting a pro-growth regulatory environment, pushing back on agency authority.

 Revitalization of the Social Security system.

All of these items will be on the new President’s docket. All will need to be addressed forcefully without regard to re-election.

What should be the requirements for our new President? She/he should have solid business experience with a strong understanding of how our vibrant free-market works. Executive leadership in business or elective office, particularly as a Governor of a state or mayor of a major US city would be important part of his/her resume. Finally, he/she should be a great communicator like President Reagan.

Who best fits these criteria among the 2012 candidates? There are only four.

Mitt Romney

The former Governor of Massachusetts could be a remarkable President. He was co-founder/CEO of Bain Capital, a highly profitable private equity firm. Remember, Romney was the man who saved the 2002 Winter Olympic Games held in Salt Lake City, Utah. Here is a leader who fully understands how the free-market works and has demonstrated fiscal restraint in all his business endeavors.

Herman Cain

The former Chairman and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza took a faltering business and made it into a financial success. He is an outspoken advocate of Free-Enterprise. Cain has made low taxes and limited government a cornerstone of his campaign. He has the communicative chops to inspire and re-invigorate a downtrodden nation.

Gary Johnson

Prior to becoming a two-term Governor of the State of New Mexico, Johnson founded a construction firm that grew into the largest in that state. During his tenure as Governor he used his veto pen much like we vote in Chicago, early and often. Another who is an outspoken advocate of limited government; Johnson privatized prisons in New Mexico. He knows business and how to govern in a fiscally responsible manner.

Michelle Bachmann

As a small business owner and advocate, Bachmann knows how to meet a budget. Currently, a US representative from Minnesota’s sixth district, she can be considered a constitutional conservative. Any candidate who boldly announces that they would eliminate the Department of Education needs to be given serious consideration. She could be the one to bring a meat axe to the budget fight, rather than a dinner knife as is usually the norm.

These are a few of the candidates that would offer something greater than your run of the mill choices from the political class. They all have solid business experience and understand fully how our economy is meant to work. This will be a critical component for the Transformational Presidency.

Yes the race is tough but I say Herman Cain has a good chance and will put up a good fight against other front-runners. Take a review on Cain's 999 tax plan (http://HermanCainsTaxPlan.com)and you'll see.
